Doosan Fuel Cell signs a development agreement on ‘hydrogen fuel cell distributed power generation’ with Hyundai Motor Company

Doosan Fuel Cell (CEO Yoo Sookyung) signed an agreement with Hyundai Motor Company and Ulsan TechnoPark to build ‘distributed power generation for microgrids using hydrogen fuel cell’ on October 7.

On the same day, the agreement ceremony was held at Hyundai Motor Company R&D center in Uiwang which was attended by Doosan Fuel Cell R&D and New Business Division Head Moon Sangjin, Hyundai Motor Company Future Technology Group Head Oh Jaehyuk, and Ulsan TechnoPark Head Woo Hangsu etc.

Under this agreement, Doosan Fuel Cell and Hyundai Motor Company will produce Phosphoric Acid Fuel Cell(PAFC) and Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell(PEMFC) respectively and Ulsan TechnoPark will provide infrastructure for verification and manage hydrogen supply facilities.

The distribution power generation is one of the ways to overcome the system instability and transmission and distribution networks expansion concerns which are the disadvantages of the existing renewable energy with its method of generating and supplying electricity nearby the power consumption area. Recently hydrogen fuel cell has been spotlighted as the source of distribution power generation with its advantages of power generation stability and mobility.

Doosan Fuel Cell has spun off from Doosan Corporation on October 1 for business management efficiency and expertise enhancement to align them with the growth of hydrogen fuel cell business.
