Doosan Fuel Cell Holds the ‘2024 Partners Annual Meeting’
Doosan Fuel Cell held the ‘2024 Doosan Fuel Cell Partners Annual Meeting’ at Dongdaemun Doosan Tower on the 1st. This event was designed to strengthen communication with partners and foster a culture of mutual growth. Approximately 60 attendees participated, including COO (Chief Operating Officer) Wonjo Bang, Vice President, CPO (Chief Purchasing Officer) Seungbok Shin, Head of Department of Doosan Fuel Cell, and partner representatives and executives.
At the meeting, Doosan presented the award results of this year in the general hydrogen bidding market under the Clean Hydrogen Energy Portfolio Standards, CHPS, shared future business plan and supply chain assessment findings, and provided basic training on ESG.
In his opening remarks, Seungbok Shin, Head of Department, stated, “Since the implementation of the CHPS, Doosan Fuel Cell’s award performance has experienced growth. In light of the heightened competition in the market, it is
imperative that we work closely with our partners to ensure both quality and cost competitiveness.” He also added, “We will seek ways to achieve sustainable growth in partnership and continue to support the development of ESG
capabilities.”
Opening the meeting, Doosan Fuel Cell highlighted its achievements in the general hydrogen bidding market this year. Following a successful bid for around 62% of the hydrogen fuel cell PPLT volume in the general hydrogen bidding market last year, Doosan Fuel Cell has now captured about 72% (approximately 125MW) of the market share this year, including Daegu Public Facilities Corporation project, Pyeongtaek Goduk fuel cell project, and the second phase of the Ansan Danwon fuel cell project.
These achievements were made possible not only by the high technical and product competitiveness, including an electrical and thermal combined efficiency of 90% and over 99% domestic production, as well as rapid system maintenance capabilities and adaptation to consumption fluctuations (adjusting power generation in response to variations in electricity demand), but also thanks to the active support from the partners.
Following that, education on the fundamentals of ESG, concepts and case studies of ESG initiatives, requirements for mandatory ESG disclosures, and EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) was provided.
Lastly, Doosan Fuel Cell presented an overview of the supply chain ESG assessment results conducted with 34 partners (32 domestic and 2 international), based on a 5-step process including self-assessment and on-site due diligence which is designed to minimize the burden on partners while meeting the due diligence requirements. A discussion was held to review the assessment results and explore potential improvements.
An official from Doosan Fuel Cell commented, “This meeting was highly appreciated by our partners, as it offered valuable insights into our business performance and direction, which was motivating for them.” He further stated “We will continue to create opportunities for regular communication with our partners moving forward.”
