As the global shift towards clean energy accelerates, the significance of hydrogen in the energy transition continues to grow. This trend highlights the growing need for integrated systems covering hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization.

In alignment with these developments, Yangju City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 15 with Daeryun E&S Co., Ltd., Doosan Fuel Cell Co., Ltd., Kohygen Co., Ltd., and the Yeoheung Min Clan’s Sa-Rang-Gong Lineage Foundation to advance the "Yangju Hydrogen City Development Project." This partnership outlines a bold “blueprint” to lead the hydrogen economy era in northern Gyeonggi-do Province.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by 14 representatives, including Yangju mayor Kang Soo-hyun, Choi Dae-yeol, Head of the sales division at Daeryun E&S, Lee Seung-joon, Vice President of Doosan Fuel Cell, Lee Kyung-sil, CEO of Kohygen, and Min Moo-sik, Chairman of the Yeoheung Min Clan’s Sa-Rang-Gong Lineage Foundation.

Under this agreement, the participating organizations will establish a collaborative framework aimed at: △Achieving Yangju City's carbon neutrality goals, △Building a hydrogen city to accelerate the energy transition, and  Promoting fuel cell power generation projects.

Yangju City will spearhead the "Hydrogen City Development Project," with Daeryun E&S overseeing fuel cell power generation projects and supplying natural gas to nearby areas.

Doosan Fuel Cell will deploy its Trigen fuel cells, capable of simultaneously producing hydrogen, electricity, and heat. These systems will produce up to 800kg of hydrogen daily while generating electricity and heat. Kohygen will transport the produced hydrogen via pipelines to Yangju City's Hoejeong Hydrogen refueling station for distribution and sale.

It has also been reported that the Yeoheung Min Clan's Sa-Rang-Gong Lineage Foundation plans to lease part of the land for long-term infrastructure projects and donate another portion to Yangju City as part of the "Yangju Hydrogen City Development Project."

At the MOU signing ceremony, Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun stated, “Through the Yangju Hydrogen City Development Project, we aim to establish a complete hydrogen ecosystem in an inland city. Moving forward, we will do our best to achieve carbon neutrality in Yangju City and establish the city as a leading hydrogen hub in northern Gyeonggi-do Province.”
