On May 12th, Doosan Fuel cell signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Electrical Safety Corporation (KESCO) at its Gunsan plant in Jeollabuk-do to collaborate on ‘hydrogen economy revitalization and the advancement of fuel cell safety management.’ The event was attended by key figures, including VP Wonjo Bang and VP Seungjun Lee from Doosan Fuel Cell, as well as Technical Director Sungjoo Kim from KESCO.

Following the MOU ceremony, Doosan Fuel Cell’s Vice President Wonjo Bang (pictured left) is taking a commemorative photo with KESCO’s Technical Director Sungjoo Kim.

Under the MOU, which focuses on SOFC(Solid Oxide Fuel Cell), Doosan Fuel Cell and KESCO will ▲jointly improve safety management of fuel cell power plants throughout their lifetime, ▲advance product inspection standards and technology, and ▲establish a body to develop criteria for stabilizing new technology.

The two parties expect to implement government initiatives aimed at expanding the target capacity of hydrogen power generation via fuel cells, and strengthen safety management over the product’s lifetime by improving product assessment.

Doosan Fuel Cell’s SOFC features high power efficiency and operates at 600℃ to 620℃, approximately 200℃ lower than conventional SOFCs, with a relatively longer lifetime. Doosan Fuel Cell plans to begin mass production within this year by building a 50MW production capacity (166 systems per year) for the low- to mid-temperature SOFC at its Gunsan plant (approximately 79,300m2) located in Saemangeum Industrial Complex
